Scene Study

Scene Study: Principles & Analysis

Following the work in Dialogue & Impulse we further the study of breaking down a scene into greater detail to find the nuance and originality without losing the actors connection to their individuality. Our focus is always on developing the ability to relate to the theory of script analysis  in an authentic and experiential way.  Foundations training is integrated into the program as a warm-up for each class. Final scenes and Intermittent exercises are filmed.

Scene Study: Dialogue & Impulse

Dialogue & Impulse is the first step into scene study study at Actorium. Each class is four hours; a two hour connection and opening class through Foundations work and a two hour scene study portion. For the first half of the eight week program we work with simple dialogue, clarifying what the actual underpinnings of a scene are and transferring into full scene work in the final four weeks of the program.

Testimonials

The work we’ve done in class, ever since my first foundation’s class has been invaluable. I spent so much time hiding what was inside that I often missed out on connecting with others throughout my life and it means a lot to be in front of other people who are willing to show themselves even just for a few hours a week. It has made me more honest with myself.
On top of that I’ve never felt so much like an actual actress before. All the classes and courses I’ve ever done were with an emphasis on your own actions and reactions.
I feel like Laban movement has been a gateway for me. It is so invaluable. For the first time I feel like I can be someone else while acting. I’m more confident and more excited than ever for more challenging and interesting roles.
That means so much to me!! You have no idea!!
“It’s a pretty amazing breakthrough when your brains locks onto the meaning of the character and what their motives are and how to express that authentically. I’m starting to have some depth and understanding of what acting truly is about. Feels really good too. Makes one want to cry. Ciao for now mentor, friend and confidant. I’m so glad we met.”

“I wanted to extend my thanks for facilitating my learning/growing over the past few months. I’ve discovered so many things that have eluded me in my acting process for years. My audition yesterday was kind of like the culmination of what I’ve gone through in your class up to this point. It was nice to go into a very intimidating audition with solid tools and the confidence to know that I can “go there” if I bring in my commitment and focus.”

I just thought I’d check in to say that lately I’ve been really inspired to just sing and dance and express myself like I never have before! I thought that was neat, and definitely part of my growth from exploring more voice and movement at Actorium. It’s not just about the scenes and doing well in front of others, it’s about personal growth and change and freedom too… thanks.

“I just wanted to reach out to you to say that of all the things we practiced in the sessions I was in, being present in the room has been, by far, the one that has helped me the most. not only on set but in every audition. I’ve been working pretty much non-stop since the beginning of August. It’s also done wonders for my confidence because I don’t feel like I’m “winging” it or that I got a role on a fluke. For the first time since I started acting I feel like I see things more clearly and I’m having fun! Thank you so much for your passion and patience.”
